To say the very least, May 16th at 2:50 in the afternoon was the happiest moment of my life. Who knew you could instantaneously love someone that much? Here is Caden's birth story:
I could not have had an easier delivery. I was scheduled for a c-section at 2:30 pm. Nick and I arrived at the hospital at 12:30, and my mother was already in the waiting room (shocker!) We were admitted into the hospital within 10 minutes and I was put directly in an observation room. For the next hour friends and family came in to see me, while my nurse started to draw labs and prep me for surgery.
My OBGYN (Dr. Thruston,) was ready for me early, so the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epidural. This was the only part of the surgery that I was really nervous about... why? Who knows, but that big old needle gave me the willies! They asked Nick to step out of the room, but my friend, Dianne (who works in the OR where I delivered) came in just as they began. It was so nice to have someone's hand to hold. Needless to say, the epidural went just fine... I barely felt a thing.
After I was all numb it was time to go to the OR. They had some trouble keeping my blood pressure up from the epidural, and it made me pretty nauseous. They did everything they could to not let me get sick, and all their efforts paid off!!!
Me, being me, I started to yell to Dr. T to make sure that he made my incision as small as he could!!! I was literally tugging on the blue drape for him to see the seriousness in my face! He asked me why, because he and Nick would be the only people to ever see it! Note to self: That was a good point!
Minutes after Nick showed up and Dr. T immediately began. Within 5 minutes Caden made his grand debut at 2:50 pm!!!!!
Holding Caden for the first time was incredible. I was filled with an overwhelming feeling of love for him.
We spent three days in the hospital and they where filled with a whirlwind of events and visitors! Nick and I feel blessed to have such great family and friends. We thank everyone who stopped by to see us... well, to see Cade!
Here are some more pictures from his big day!
We sincerely appreciate all of the love and support of our family and friends. You have been our rocks through this pregnancy and we are grateful to have you all in our lives. We look forward to sharing the many great memories to come with you all.
Much Love,
Nick, Erin, Bailey, and CADEN!
