4 Week Update!

Can you believe that Caden is 4 weeks old!?!?!?  They have flown by, but these past few weeks have been more than incredible.  He is the most wonderful gift I have ever received.

Cade is doing great!!!  He was born at 7lbs 4oz, and when we left the hospital he weighed 6lbs 12oz.  At our two week check up the doctor was looking to see if he had returned to his birth weight.  Well, give my baby a task, and he will surpass it... he weighed 8lbs 2oz!!!  At a month they look to see if a baby has gained a pound over his birth weight and Caden now weighs roughly 9lbs 5oz!!  He is a little porker!

He is definitely his father's child.   He looks just like Nick (eyes, mouth, chin,) and he has a very calm personality for the most part.  If he is full, he is happy!  He has a little of me in him; he loves to cuddle, when he is mad, he is MAD, and he has my hands and feet!   He is still waking up two times a night, but he eats and goes straight back to bed.  He never cries when he wakes up, (which is nice!)  Nick and I just hear him playing with his hands and making little noises.

Caden loves to eat (hence, his chubbiness,) and he loves his pacifier, bath time, swing, and bouncy chair... if he cries he is easily soothed (well, most of the time :))  He day dreams and loves to play with his hands.  He is also super strong! Look what he did at 3 1/2 weeks (beware I shriek:)

Nick and I are doing well... I recovered VERY quickly... thank goodness!!!  Nick, on the other hand came down with a cold the first week we were home, and the next week he got pink eye!  NOT good timing!  He had to stay away from Cade for a few days.  All is well now, and things are great!  We have learned that we can live on little sleep, that 10:30 is a "late" night, and that we are a great team.  I loved Nick before, but I have a whole new appreciation for him now; he is a beyond wonderful father!  He has learned to change diapers, give baths, change clothes, work the Diaper Geenie, etc... He has always been a HUGE help around the house, but he is doing everything he can to find ways to cut me a small break.   There is nothing more amazing than seeing the father of your child and your baby together.

Bailey LOVES Caden!  She is so good with him.  When he cries she goes and checks on him and then comes to me with this look on her face like she is saying, "well, are you going to do something for crying out loud!"  If we lay him one the bed with her, she will lay her head on him and if we lay him on her she will just lay there and look at him.  Unfortunately, half way through my pregnancy we realized that her tail was thin, and we were finding chunks of it in our office.  Well, after Cade came she continued to chew her tail fur and she may have to take doggie Prozac!  The doctor says she is having a small psychological problem.  We have been trying to take her on long walks and runs, give her a ton of attention, and make sure that our guest acknowledge her first.   Poor baby, if she only knew how much she was still loved!

So, all in all, Cade is growing like and weed and we are all enjoying this wonderful time in our lives!  I am sorry it took me so long to post an update, as you may well imagine, I do not have a lot of free time on my hands!  I promise I will get better at posting more often... I am actually going to post his newborn pictures in just a few minutes!  Stay tuned!!!

Love to you all,

Nick, Erin, Caden, and Bailey
